I am OLD...REALLY OLD by some of your standards. I still like to draw and paint with tactile tools. I worked as an illustrator and art director many MANY eons ago till I started a family. Then I decided the commute to the big city and time away from the children could not ever make up for missing out on being with them, so I stayed home and illustrated as a freelancer. At first I worked from a nice upper floor studio looking out over the garden and fields. But as the girls grew and wanted their own space I moved my art table into a back corner of the basement. I feel like a mouse in its hole. But it is cosy enough, and some of my best art has been created there.
So the years went by, and now the house holds one commercial artist, one graphic designer, a photographer/artist/digital artist/writer, and a theatre/film student kind enough to model. There is a lot of creative energy.
I am an Austrian Canadian and have spent months at a time travelling through Europe, Scandinavia, Great Britain, the Middle East, the States and Canada. I have cycled the Gulf Islands and San Juan Islands, slept under the stars in the Negev and Sinai, hiked on the AT and Long Trails, cross country skied The Canadian Ski Marathon and various loppets, canoed the interior of Algonquin, and alpine skied since I could stand (Austrians do that). Life is one gorgeous thing to be experienced as fully as possible!
